XPO offers green solution for a green customer
[ January 26, 2023 // Chris Lewis ]Logistics company XPO has developed a multimodal service to move products for energy management and automation firm Schneider Electric between France and the UK.
XPO’s road fleet transports containers of freight from Schneider Electric’s Mions site near Lyon to the rail terminal in Vénissieux to Dourges from where they travel by Eurotunnel shuttle through Channel Tunnel or cross the Channel by ferry to Telford. The service operates twice a week in both directions.
The operation is managed by proprietary XPO technology and will reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 46% per year (172 tonnes of CO2), compared with all-road transport.
Schneider Electric’s target is to become carbon-neutral in its operations by 2025. XPO has been a strategic partner for 10 years, providing full truckload, less-than-truckload and multimodal services in France and Spain.
