[ October 23, 2014   //   ]

Yusen Logistics staff could soon be swapping the UKfor project work in sub-Saharan Africa after the supply chain specialist became transport charity Transaid’s latest corporate member. Yusen Logistics is keen to explore volunteering opportunities for staff within Transaid’s projects, including the possibility of its graduates taking up long-term secondments to help with Transaid’s vital field work in Africa.

Yusen Logistics’ Managing Director UK, Kevin Appleton, says: “Transaid is a fantastic organisation and I am delighted we have the opportunity to work closely with its team, becoming actively involved in the life-saving work the charity does.

By placing volunteers from our company into Transaid’s projects we are not only sharing Yusen Logistics’ wealth of expertise in the logistics sector, but we are confident our staff will enjoy valuable and enriching experiences.”

Transaid’s Acting Chief Executive Caroline Barber adds: “The time, expertise, and funding our corporate members provide helps us make a real difference to the lives of thousands each year. Their financial support alone enables us to test and run a range of new transport solutions, which allows us to expand the services we are offering to even more people who really need it.”

Yusen Logistics has also started raising funds for Transaid. A recent raffle held during the Senior Management Conference and Annual Customer Golf Dayraised a total of £1,700.
